Stop Making Simplifying so Complicated

Simplicity is a Lifestyle, Not a Project

Whenever a topic becomes popular it is diluted. The original intention of simplicity has been erased by a clutter of magazines and books instructing you on how to simplify.

But it isn’t so hard that we need a shelf full of magazines and books telling us how to do it.

There are a few mindsets shifts that can help. Without mindset shifts you will probably never succeed no matter how hard you try.

  1. Start from a place of abundance. It is hard to let go of things if you don’t think you can get them again should the need arise. You have to believe you will be able to get what you need when you need it.
  2. Get real about needs. There are very few things in life that are needs. The rest is either enriching us or smothering us.
  3. Buy less. Before you buy anything, make sure you know exactly where you are going to put it. Will life be better with this new thing in that spot, or just more crowded?
  4. Space is not free. We pay for every square inch of space we have. Is the stuff you are keeping in your house worth the price tag of the space it uses.? Divide the price of your house by the square footage. How much are you paying for each square foot?
