A big part of the problem with social media is that you don’t see or know the person. People lose touch with their humanity when interacting on social media precisely because they are not being social. They are in a room, often by themselves, cut off from other people. There have always been plenty of jerks in the world, and they always try to be louder than those who are sharing the message of love. Good job for being part of the positive message. As far as parenting goes, it is part of the problem but I know more awesome parents than not-so-awesome ones. Again, the nasty kids are just louder. The good kids don’t shout from the rooftops because they are not under the delusion that they know everything. But they are out there, and I believe in much greater numbers than those who engaged in these nasty behaviors. Part of it is our own perspective and when we spend more time watching and listening to the news and interacting with social media than we do actually hanging out with other people the world just starts looking darker.
